Drivitars are basically bots that remember other peoples playstyles. They essentially made the game "always online" even when you arent by forcing you to race with real peoples drivatars. At the time of writing this game has been out for a while now and if you can find a very cheap copy it's worth a punt if you're a racing fan, but if not I'd recommend either getting the brilliant project cars instead or waiting for forza 6 and hoping its better than this. Other than that the graphics are decent and certain tracks in particular look lush (prague is beautiful), there's still a good array of cars (although less than previous forza's) and the extensive tuning and paint options are still there. Its worth noting that the game has split screen which is rare these days as most developers don't seem to bother. However quite often it does feel like whoever has the quickest setup wins, meaning the average joe has no chance. That being said the multiplayer is the saving grace of the game, as the racing is competitive and fun and its super easy to find well populated lobbies. They've also not included some of the best features of the previous games such as the popular auction house which is disappointing. The career mode lacks direction and gets boring pretty quickly as there's really no/little rewards to motivate you to keep playing so there's very little sense of achievement or progression. The game feels totally half finished and it feels like the developers are forcing you into buying the DLC just so you don't get bored. After the varied biomes in Mexico, I'm curious to see where we go next. Playground Games is at the top of their game. In the end, there really is no other arcade racer on the market that comes close. The weekly challenges can feel like a grind after a while (miss one, and you might not be able to win the exclusive car in a loooong time!), and the pay-for-the-map integration (oops, I triggered it again) and the latest car pack timing are an unusual misstep for a game that respects our wallets by offering so much value. It's a 10 in my book, but there is room for improvement. It's just a very, very pretty game all-around, with detailed car models and a varied landscape that beckons to be explored. There are copious options - you can ramp up the difficulty or lower it - but some races demand utter concentration with difficulty presets or the requirement to not hit walls or competition. But other than that, it's such a well-tuned, well-functioning experience. There are still some annoying bugs that may be tied to auto-resume where treasure chests and collectibles don't spawn (or are not collectable) until you restart.
